Momos are at the top of everyone's list of favourite foods from Nepal. Here you learn to make them by hand, in our kitchen with our family, and then you eat what you folded.
You mix the filling, roll the wrappers and pleat each momo by hand. The first few never look right. They still taste good. We finish them kothey style, which means steamed and then grilled on the bottom in a pan, using local homemade ghee. Have another dish in mind? Tell us when you book and we may be able to arrange it.
From flour to plate
- 01
Make the filling
Chop, season and mix by hand: chicken, or vegetables with paneer.
- 02
Roll the wrappers
Flour and water, kneaded and rolled into small thin rounds.
- 03
Learn the fold
We show you the pleats slowly, then it's your turn.
- 04
Steam and grill
Into the steamer, then kothey in a pan with ghee if you like.
- 05
Sit down and eat
Your own momos, hot, with achar, at the table with us.

Kothey means the bottom is grilled
Soft on top, crisp underneath. Prefer yours plain? Steamed momos are just as good, and you can make both.

Then we sit down together
The class ends at the table, with the momos you made still hot. It's a good time to ask us anything about Nepali food.

Food from close to home
Our vegetables come from our community and our ghee and flour from people nearby. What you spend here stays in Sarangkot and the villages nearby.
